This is my go-to recipe for deviled eggs. My secret is replacing the white vinegar with cider vinegar. This small change adds an extra special flavor to your eggs.

How to Hard Boil Eggs

  • Gently place the eggs in a pot and fill the pot with cold water until the eggs are covered and the water level is about an inch above the eggs.
  • Bring the water to a boil and then reduce the heat to medium low.
  • Let the water simmer for 10 minutes, then drain the eggs and run them under cold water for a minute or two to cool.

What You’ll Need to Make a Classic Deviled Egg Recipe

  • 6 hard boiled eggs
  • 2 tbsp mayo
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard
  • ½ tsp salt

How to Make the Best Deviled Eggs

  1. Slice eggs in half lengthwise. Remove the yolks and place them in a small bowl; set the egg whites aside.
  2. Mash the yolks with a fork.
  3. Add the mayo, sugar, cider vinegar, mustard, and salt.  Mix until well combined.
  4. Spoon yolk mixture into hollows of egg whites.
  5. Sprinkle with paprika for added color.

For an extra special treat, top your deviled eggs with any one of the following ingredients:

  • Cooked, crumbled bacon
  • Fresh herbs
  • Thinly sliced scallion greens
  • Smoked salmon
