About Me

I believe that meals, surrounded by people you love are the perfect complement to an outstanding day and the best remedy for the not-so-stellar.  I think an evening wrapped in a cozy blanket with a good book or a good movie is the perfect ending to any day.  I want my kitchen to be a cherished destination and my home to be a retreat for the people I care about the most.

So, that’s the fantasy.  The reality is that most days, “cherished destination” and “retreat” are replaced by kids begrudgingly setting the table” and “chaos”.  On a typical day, meal times are squeezed between home work and sports practice, and meal prep is a juggling act of cooking, reading the mail, signing permission slips, and attempting to clean as you go.

This is real life and, like most Moms, even in the midst of the chaos I want to enjoy the fleeting years these little people (or not so little at 12 and 15) are going to be at home,  provide healthy meals that, even if rushed, still qualify as time spent together, and have a cozy home the kids and their friends actually want to spend time in.

This blog is a chronicle of my attempt at finding the balance of working full-time,  parenting busy kids, making mealtime a priority, and never skimping on cozy.
