This easy Broccoli Cauliflower Salad is the perfect side dish for all your family gatherings. This easiest salad recipe ever uses simple ingredients and is a great way to get your kids to eat raw veggies.
Prep Time:20 minutes

Ingredients

For the Salad

  • 4 cups of fresh broccoli cut into small pieces
  • 4 cups of cauliflower florets cut into small pieces
  • 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup crumbled bacon
  • 1 small red onion diced

For the Salad Dressing

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 Tablespoons of white sugar
  • 1 and 1/2 Tablespoons of white vinegar

Instructions

Step One

  • In a small bowl, mix the mayo, sugar, and vinegar.
  • Combine the raw broccoli, cauliflower, red onion, cheese, and crumbled bacon in a separate large bowl.

Step Two

  • Pour the creamy dressing over the salad ingredients and toss until everything is well coated.
  • Let it sit for a couple of hours before serving so that the flavors have a chance to blend.
  • Store in an airtight container until you’re ready to serve it.

Notes

  • You can make this salad up to 24 hours in advance. It tastes better the next day after the flavors have had a chance to meld.
  • You can customize this salad to your heart’s content. You could add crunchy sunflower seeds and dried cranberries for a sweet broccoli cauliflower salad.
  • Swap out the white vinegar in the salad dressing for white wine vinegar, red wine vinegar, or apple cider vinegar for a tangy dressing on this already irresistible salad.
  • You can also swap out the mayo in the homemade dressing recipe for greek yogurt or light mayonnaise if you want to cut a few calories.
  • Feel free to substitute turkey bacon or real bacon bits for the cooked bacon in this easy recipe. (I almost always use real bacon bits – the kind that looks and feel like actual bacon, not the crunchy flavored bits – as a shortcut when making this recipe.
