Easy Apple Crisp Recipe with Oat-Free Streusel Topping

Print Recipe
This homemade apple crisp recipe without oats is one of my family's favorite desserts. It takes about 10 minutes to assemble - throw it into the oven just before you sit down to dinner and you'll have a delicious apple crisp ready by the time the dishes are done. It's perfect on its own but a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a little caramel sauce send this easy dessert recipe over the top!

Ingredients

For the Apple Mixture

  • 7 large or 10 small apples peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 2 teaspoons white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cold butter

For the Crisp Topping

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter room temperature

Instructions

Step One

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Farenheight and lightly grease a 9x13 baking pan.

Step Two

  • Place the apple slices in your baking dish and sprinkle with the lemon juice, sugar, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
  • Use your clean hands to mix everything together and then spread the sliced apples out so they cover the bottom of the pan.
  • Cut the butter into small pieces and arrange over the top of the apple filling.

Step Three

  • To make the apple crumble topping, combine the flour, sugar, and cinnamon in a medium-sized bowl.
  • Add the softened butter to the bowl and, using a pastry blender or fork, cut it into the dry mixture until it forms crumbles.
  • Cover the apple filling with the crumbly topping mixture.
  • Bake for 45 minutes or until your crust is a nice golden brown and you've got a tender apple filling.
