Print Recipe
Ground beef patties simmered in a simple onion gravy. Ready in about 20 minutes and great served over mashed potatoes or egg noodles.
Prep Time:5 minutes
Cook Time:15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 Dry Onion Soup Mix divided
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce divided
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup divided
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 to 2 teaspoons water optional

Instructions

  • Combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, 1 tablespoon of the soup mix, 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce, 1 tablespoon ketchup, salt, and pepper. Knead until evenly mixed and divide into 4 patties. Drag a fork across the top of each to create light lines.
  • Cook the patties in a skillet over medium-high heat until browned on both sides and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  • Discard excess grease. Add water and remaining soup mix to the pan, scraping up any browned bits. Stir in remaining Worcestershire sauce and ketchup and bring to a simmer.
  • If desired, stir in the cornstarch mixture and simmer until slightly thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Return the patties to the pan, spoon gravy over them, and simmer for a few minutes until heated through. Serve hot.
