Print Recipe
Prep Time:20 minutes
Cook Time:10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of sushi rice or any short-grain rice
  • 12 oz of smoked salmon sliced
  • 2 seedless cucumbers cut into matchsticks
  • 2 avocados diced
  • 1 cup of matchstick carrots
  • Wasabi paste adjust to taste
  • Optional for garnishing: sesame seeds soy sauce, sliced nori (seaweed), pickled ginger

Instructions

Prepare the Rice

  • Begin by cooking the rice according to the package instructions. Let the rice cool slightly until it's just warm to the touch.

Prep Your Ingredients

  • While the rice is cooking, prepare your vegetables and salmon. Slice the smoked salmon into bite-sized pieces. Cut the cucumbers and carrots into matchsticks, and dice the avocados.

Assemble the Board

  • Arrange salmon, cucumbers, carrots, diced avocados, and wasabi on a large board or platter. (You can either place these directly on a food-safe board or arrange them in bowls—it's entirely up to your personal preference.) If you’re using optional ingredients like sesame seeds, nori, or pickled ginger, place these on the board as well. Place a large bowl with the rice in the center or at one end of the board.

Serving

  • Invite your family to assemble their bowls, starting with the rice. They can then top it with smoked salmon, veggies, and a dab of wasabi. Each person can customize their bowl to their liking, adding as much or as little of each topping as they prefer.
  • Optional: Everyone can drizzle their bowl with soy sauce and sprinkle with sesame seeds or tear bits of nori over the top for an extra touch of flavor and texture.
