In the world of grilling, there’s something undeniably appealing about food served on a stick. It’s fun, it’s informal, and food just tastes better on a stick!
These Asian Beef Skewers are perfect for any occasion. They combine the rich flavors of flank steak with the boldness of traditional Asian ingredients. Plus, the super easy marinade can be put together in minutes, making it perfect to prep the night before for a satisfying dinner the next day.
What You’ll Need To Make Asian Beef Skewers
- 1 1/2 pounds flank steak or skirt steak
- 2 green onions, diced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 Tablespoons roasted red chili paste
- 3 Tablespoons sherry
- 1 Tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 16 metal skewers or wooden skewers, at least 8 inches long. Soak skewers if they’re wooden to prevent burning
How To Make the Flank Steak Skewers
Mix the green onions, soy sauce, roasted chili pepper paste, ginger, and garlic in a large Ziplock bag.
Next, cut the flank steak across the grain into about 48 1/4-inch slices. Place the thin strips of steak into the Ziplock bag, close it, and massage the resealable plastic bag well to ensure the marinade completely coats the meat. Chill for at least 2 hours but not more than 24.
When you’re ready to prepare the steak, preheat your outdoor grill to high heat. Remove the steak from the Ziplock bag, discard the marinade, and thread three slices onto each skewer.
Grill the skewers for about two minutes, flip, and grill the second side for another two minutes or until they reach your desired doneness.
Don’t Have an Outdoor Grill? No Problem!
A grill pan can be your best friend if you’re making these skewers indoors. Heat it over medium-high heat, and cook the skewers in batches, turning them once, until they’re caramelized and cooked to your liking. Just like on the outdoor grill, about two minutes per side should do the trick.
Side Dish Ideas for Asian Steak Skewers:
