I discovered crispy chickpeas in the healthy snacks section of my grocery store earlier this summer and became an instant fan. The only problem was that I could only find sea salt seasoned chickpeas and, while that is definitely yummy, my family was looking for a little more variety.
Luckily, roasting chickpeas at home is SUPER easy and you can create as many different flavor variations as you’d like. This version is another great way to use the Everything Bagel Seasoning you picked up at Trader Joe’s and is our hands-down favorite. (These crunchy bites also make a great salad topper, if you find yourself low on croutons or wanting to cut down on carbs!)
I always keep a few extra cans of chickpeas on hand so I can make this easy recipe for a snack when we have last-minute guests or have a craving for a savory snack with a crispy texture.
What You’ll Need to Make This Savory Snack
- 1 can of chickpeas or garbanzo beans
- 2 Tablespoons of Olive Oil
- 3 Teaspoons of Everything But the Bagel Seasoning
How to Make Oven Roasted Chickpeas with Everything Bagel Seasoning
Step One
Preheat your oven to 450 degrees F.
Rinse and drain the chickpeas then place them on a paper towel or clean dish towel and pat to dry them off a bit.
Step Two
Place the chickpeas on a large, rimmed baking sheet.
Next, drizzle the chickpeas with olive oil and sprinkle the Everything Bagel Seasoning over them.
Using your hands, mix everything together until all the chickpeas are coated with oil and the seasoning. (Some of the thin skins will come off the chickpeas while you’re doing this, it’s okay, just leave them to roast and get crispy.)
Step Three
Spread them apart in a single layer on the pan and bake in your hot oven for 25-30 minutes until they are crispy and golden brown.
Allow the chickpeas to cool to room temperature before serving. You can store them in an airtight container on your counter for a couple of days (if they last that long!) but they will start to lose their crunch. This snack tastes best and is at its crunchiest right after roasting.
